Mr. Vander Heide is a practicing architect, registered in MI, PA & NJ. First registration was in MI in 1974. His career has included: full time work for a structural systems (space-frames) manufacturer, doing project engineering and later management; management of a hundred person architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, interior design firm; capital budgeting and owner led improvements of city government buildings; and the independent practice of architecture. Direct hands on experience includes construction inspections across North America, CADD contract documents, 3D computer modeling and animations. Management experience includes capital budgeting, project management and firm management. He is a voting member of ASTM Committee E:06 Performance of Buildings. He can bring building sciences to the table, as he has attended many WUFI advanced seminars and RCI conventions.. He started expert witness work in 2004 and has been a player in cases from ADA to trip and fall to architectural malpractice.
