I am quadruple boarded in Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Adult Critical Care Medicine. Currently I practice as an Academic Hospitalist and Critical Care Physician associated with the University of Washington School of Medicine in Boise, Idaho. I completed my Adult Critical Care Fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center and my Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford and at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital. I served as Medical Director of a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Idaho for 10 years and have practiced both Pediatric Critical Care and Adult Critical Care for most of my 25 year career in multiple hospital settings ranging from suburban community hospitals to academic medical centers and government hospitals. I have experience with Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals also. I have a special interest in physician burnout and the intersection between burnout and patient safety. I have served as Chairman of Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics and have experience with medical staff issues. I have worked extensively with some of the top lawyers in the country on physician anti-trust issues following a case from Federal District Court through appeals at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. I have provided expert witness testimony in criminal trials and child abuse cases. I have been involved in malpractice cases both as defendant and as expert witness. As a former CEO of a healthcare company, I have extensive business law experience as an entrepreneur.  I have training in Tactical Medicine and served as Medical Director of a Sheriff's SWAT Team for 6 years and trained as a Level 2 Reserve with the California POST program.  I served as a Flight Surgeon for the San Bernardino County (CA) Sheriff's Department's Aviation Search and Rescue Team.
