Josephson-Werdowatz &amp; Associates(JWA), founded in 1988 and with licenses in twenty-five states, has provided structural design and construction defect investigations/evaluations across the United States and abroad. Structural evaluations included wood, masonry, steel, and concrete structures, with particular emphasis on seismic and wind design. Evaluations also included code review and analysis, and standard of care analysis. JWA also has extensive experience with geotechnical structures such as special foundations, underpinning, retaining walls, tie-backs, and soil nails, among others. JWA strives for a reasoned, accurate, and practical solution to structural engineering problems and deficiencies.

Principal Structural Engineers Carl H. Josephson, PE, SE and Dan R. Werdowatz PE, SE have been retained as expert witnesses in over 1,500 cases for plaintiff and defense clients, and have provided testimony in deposition or trial on over 400 occasions.  Mr. Josephson has over 40 years of structural engineering experience with a BSCE from San Diego State University, is active in numerous professional organizations, and has served as the Structural Engineer member of the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. Mr. Werdowatz has over 35 years of structural engineering experience with a BSCE from San Diego State University and an MS (Structures) from University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Werdowatz and Mr. Josephson also act as court-appointed neutral experts.

JWA has extensive trial graphics capabilities including state-of-the-art computer models and animations. Although the main office is in San Diego, JWA has additional offices in Sacramento, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Scottsdale, Arizona.
