Dr. Fitzgibbons has been board certified in internal medicine since 1984, and since 2002 her practice has been almost entirely in hospital medicine. She has served as chief of hospital medicine in a major teaching hospital and is a regular contributor to journals and blogs for other hospitalists. Since 2008 she has been active in reviewing court cases, and has given opinions for both plaintiff and defense attorneys.

Testified in more than 35 lawsuits for both plaintiff and defense, 5 of those in court.
